Bedding and Pot Plants - Medium Nutrient

Traditional medium nutrient plant raising composts
with a choice of air capacity to suit crop and management
requirement. Medium and longer term crops will require
supplementary liquid feeding.
Compost performance is influenced by:
1. Air/water balance
Air content is increased by inclusion of peat aggregates,
bark or perlite. We prepare composts from selections
from four grades of peat: Fine 0-5mm, Medium 0-10mm,
Med-coarse 2-15mm, Coarse 15-25mm.
Raising the proportion of med. coarse grades increases
air content and provides a more free draining compost.
2. Nutrient content
Two soluble base fertilisers are used in Sinclair composts:
Sincrostart 12+14+24+3MgO+TE
PK Balancer 0+24+27+3MgO+TE
These can be supplemented with Sincrocell Controlled
Release Fertiliser for extended nutrient additions are
shown with compost descriptions.
3. pH
Bedding & pot plant composts generally have an
average pH of 6.0. This is lowered to an average pH
5.5 where composts are designed for iron-chlorosis sensitive
crops.
